It's been another great year for A level results at St Brendan's College near Keynsham, where 97.3 per cent of students achieved a pass, while 14 achieved an A or A* for four or more of their subjects.

The college's young mathematicians did particularly well this year, out of the 130 who took the subject at A-level, one third gained an A* or A grade.

Ann Barrow, college principal, said, "Once again we have been celebrating the fantastic achievement of our students. It is well deserved as they have been dedicated to their studies and are now reaping the rewards. I'm very proud of them all individually, those who have done exceptionally well but also those who have overcome personal circumstances and disadvantages. We wish them all well in the future".

Star pupil David Harris is off to Cambridge University to study physics, having gained A*s in chemistry, physics, mathematics, further maths and French; in addition to the A he got in his AS level in critical thinking last year. David is clearly destined to have a great future!

Joanna Pearce is off to Lougborough University to study chemical engineering, having achieved A*s in chemistry and maths and A grades in biology, physics and further mathematics - as well as a B in AS critical thinking last year.

Rhiannon Teather will be heading down the road to Bristol University where she will be studying history. Rhiannon got an A* in the subject, as well as A grades in English literature and language, economics and art and design, not to mention as an A grade at AS critical thinking last year.

Holly Chivers will be studying veterinary science at Bristol University, having achieved A*'s in chemistry and biology, and an A in French. Holly also received a B in Spanish and critical thinking last year.

Not only has rugby star Megan Oaten represented England internationally in the sport, she also received an A in psychology and sociology, a B in history and a C in English literature and language in her A levels. She will be heading off to UWIC University where she will study sport and physical education.

Meanwhile inspirational Amy Qureshi has shown that being a young mum is no barrier to great academic achievement. She gained As in English literature and language, and photography. Amy hopes to become an English teacher.

Fraser Babbage, who got an A in psychology and a B in mathematics and accounting, has gained a £15,000 Kaplan Scholarship to allow him to become an accountancy apprentice. His sister Abigail won the same award last year.

And Joe Bressington has secured an accounting apprenticeship with Rolls Royce in Derby. Joe got an A in accounting and graphics, a B in English language and a C in business studies.

Well done to you all!
