A new Kingswood & Keynsham constituency could be created in a shake-up of Parliamentary boundaries in the South West that has just been announced by the Boundary Commission.
-
Jacob Rees-Mogg, Keynsham's current MP
-
Kingswood's current MP Chris Skidmore
Currently Kingswood is held by Conservative Chris Skidmore while Keynsham, which is part of the North East Somerset seat, is held by Conservative Jacob Rees-Mogg. Both MPs were elected at the 2010 General Election.
The North East Somerset seat came into being at the 2010 General Election, succeeding the Wansdyke Parliamentary Seat held by Labour's dan Norris.
Previously Kingswood was held by Labour's Roger Berry. Prior to 2010, the Frome Vale and Hillfields wards of the City of Bristol were part of the Kingswood constituency, but they transferred to Bristol East.
Within South Gloucestershire, the Kingswood seat gained Hanham, Bitton and Oldland Common from the former Wansdyke constituency, but lost Downend and Staple Hill to the new Filton and Bradley Stoke seat.
The new Kingswood & Keynsham constituency would include the wards of Kings Chase, Woodstock, Hanham, Parkwall, Longwell Green, Oldland Common, Bitton (all currently Kingswood) as well as Keynsham East, North and South, Saltford, Chew Valley North and South, Clutton Farmborough, Mendip, Publow and Whitchurch.
People are being invited to have their say on the plans over the next 12 weeks.
Read the Boundary Commission report and let us know what you think!

Hi Wings, I don't think Jacob Rees-Mogg uses Twitter much. I wrote a story about it a while ago http://tinyurl.com/3na5dod

ReportTelling our MP would be a good place to start, he was elected to represent our views in Parliament.
I do wonder how much support there will be in Parliament for this, considering around 50 MPs would lose their jobs as a result of these mesaures.
This government has been cobbled together by two parties which seem to have very little in common with each other. The dominant party seems to be pushing through measures which often the subordinate party doesn't agree with and the electorate didn't vote for (eg NHS reform and selling off forests).
Maybe that's why Cameron keeps doing U-turns. Maybe he'll do a u-turn on this too.
It's all very strange.
