The poor run continued for Saltford Stragglers when they were beaten at Kingsdown Golf Club by 3-2.

Things had looked good for the visitors when Chris Reeves and Keith Bees won their game by 2 and 1. John Taylor, back from his Toronto holiday, and Alan Burston triumphed 5 and 4 to make it two wins for Saltford.

But Dennis Payter and James Flew never got going and lost 5 and 3, while Colin Meek and Marcus Woodward lost by the same margin to make the match 2-2.

In the deciding final game Brian Collings and Colin Salvage lost 5 and 4 to make it five successive defeats for the Stragglers.

Captain Dennis Payter said: “It was disappointing after making a good start to the season only to come here and lose. Kingsdown was where stopped the rot last season with a draw and we went on to beat them at home making them the only side not to beat us last year!”

Saltford hope to get back on the winning track away to Knowle next Tuesday.
