A Keynsham woman is hoping to raise more than a thousand pounds for charity by running in the world famous London Marathon.

Becky Mann has finished several half-marathons but this will be her first run over the distance of more than 26 miles.

She said: “My training is going well, up to two-and-a-half hours running, now over half way!

“After completing several half marathons I have accepted a place to run the London Marathon on April 25, this year for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

“This charity is close to my heart and they have given me a target to raise £1,500.

“It is my first marathon, 26 miles seems a very very long way but with your help and support I am determined to finish. My training is going ok, its a tad chilly out there but knowing I'm raising funds for my charity helps even when I’'m slip sliding along in the ice.”

Becky and her partner Marcus Woodward, along with their friends in the carpet industry, helped to raise £1,618 for former rugby player Alastair Hignell’s Higgy’s Heroes when they ran in the Stroud half marathon last year.

Now you can help Becky reach her target in April. She said: “Please donate as much as you can and thank you so much for you support.”

You can support Becky by sponsoring her on the Justgiving website

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Marie Curie Cancer Care gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Becky is running for a very good cause. If everyone who logs on pledges just £5 she will more than pass her fund raising target.
