The Saltford Stragglers suffered a heavy defeat at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club, going  down 5-0.

.It was the team’s first whitewash of the season but their seventh successive defeat.

Paul Thorne and Colin Salvage went down 3 and 2 in the first game while cousins Brian Collings and Alan Burston suffered a 6 and 5 hammering as even one of the home pairing admitted his partner was “a bit of a bandit” off his handicap.

Dennis Payter and Dave Hawley could not stop the rot going down 3 and 2, the home skipper being unbeaten this season.

James Flew and Pete Jeffrey played against two of their “friends” but it did not stop them going down 4 and 3.

Just like the previous game, Saltford captain Dennis Payter was hoping the last pair could save the visitors from the dreaded whitewash, but Chris Reeves and Mark Wickham lost on the last green.

Now the Stragglers hope to halt the slide at home to Henbury next Wednesday.

The Stragglers now have three homes games on the bounce. Surely they can win at least one of them?
Maybe they should have an "England style" team meeting to rash things out.
i understand the skipper is against inviting the WAGS to matches.
