I have visited The Brassmill on several occasions. Many before the refurbishment in January and many after. I love the fact that they now offer full table service in the day and evening whilst still having a small casual area for a less formal visit. I used to work in the catering trade and what some people fail to realise is that sometimes things go wrong and this has a knock on effect. Any one intentially trying to give bad service must be mad in this day and age so based on my visits I'm confident that The Brassmill can deliver great food and service as they have during my visits. In my opinion if you have something to say its best said to the manager. They need to hear your feedback to change things.
The Brassmill managment team have listened to your comments and as a result a new Kitchen Manager has been appointed. Our aim is to deliver excellent guest service and we have taken great focus on ensuring our teams can deliver. Come and try the Brassmill for yourself, we look forward to seeing you soon.
First of all, it's very bad practise for the management of the Brassmill to repeatedly post five star ratings on here in order to obscure the true rating, which judging from the reviews is very low.
Let me start by saying that we had no preconceptions of the Brassmill, and have now visited twice. The first visit was with a large group, so we put the incredibly long wait (1hr30mins) and mixed up orders down to that and decided to to give the resturant another chance. Having had another very poor experience and having read the negative reviews online, we now realise that the service at the resturant is generally poor.
We visited on a Saturday, and the resturant was relatively empty (not a good sign!), so undertandably were quite put out at waiting 10mins before anyone actually seated us. Once seated, there was a further long wait before we were given menus, the tables were not cleared, and we also had to wait around ten minutes before our drinks orders were taken. Having recieved similarly poor service we decided not to stay for food, and paid for our drinks and left. From our arrival, it took 50 mins for staff at the Brassmill to seat us and serve 2 drinks. This is simply not good enough, especially considering how empty the resturant was. As other reviewers have commented, some of the staff are standoffish and rude. We will certainly not be wasting our time or money on the Brassmill again.
I recently booked a table for a family celebration and on making the booking asked if the restaurant could cater for a vegan and was assured this was the case. Imagine the disappointment when the vegan in the party was presented with a green salad and baby potatoes in an oily dressing whilst the rest of us, including the vegetarians in the group, tucked into good hearty meals. I realise catering for a vegan diet can be a bit more challenging than more mainstream diets, but I would rather know from the outset that the chef is unable to do so. Even a well known pizza chain is able to rise to the challenge. Took the edge of the celebration. Shame as the vegetarian meals were very good. Sorry but its back to the indian restaurants in future.
The Brassmill Vintage Inn in Keynsham has become one of the best dining venues in Bristol. There are times when during busy periods guests should expect a delay on service. It is our aim to provide our guests with great food at affordable prices. During the colder months of the year we do struggle with heating such a large building. The Brassmill is under going some refurbishments in January 2013 and we are hoping the heating issue will be reolved.
In response to our previous review, we have never had a wait of two hours for food, and our staff are trained in great customer service. This shows in the fact that the last 8 months have seen The Brassmill reach better sales than in previous years. Our guests are telling us we are doing a great job!. Ok there are times when things go wrong, but we always try to right them, and after all, we are only human. Our guests come first. As stated in the previous review, please do make your own judgement, you will clearly note that one persons opinion is there own, all be it over exaggerated! they are entitled to one.
Look forward to seeing you soon. January 18th 2013 relaunch with a new look. Pop in and say hello.
