A little Gem

What a Gem indeed, This pub is a must go, come rain or shine. Whether its sitting by the river outside with a crisp g&t and a lite bite watching the swans & boats glide through the lock, or dining inside with roaring log fires, cosy atmosphere and the perfect winter dishes we always have a lovely experience. The food is always of a very high standard, the specials board is always smashing and thoroughly enjoyed by us - what a selection of home made meals! Staff are always friendly and attentive too! I think it being privately owned reflects on the little touches the big chains seem to miss. Would definitely recommend to anyone !!

    Amazing find!

Stumbled upon this place by accident, tucked away at the very end of mead lane with stunning views of the river and surrounding country side. We received a friendly welcome from the staff and the food was delicious. I had a huge homemade pie from the specials. Will definitely be back to sample more of the menu, just wish I had discovered it sooner.

Good food, shame about the service

My friends & I went there for a mate's 30th birthday lunch on a Sunday. The food was great but took ages and got left on the wrong table - at which no one was even sitting - becaue there was more than one table with that number painted on it! Sitting about five meters away, we were truely baffled by this & eventually went and took the food to our own table nearby. I would say it's good but don't go there when it's busy - they clearly weren't coping well enough.
