It is performing the Oliver award winning Honk! the musical retelling of the story of the ugly Duckling. Written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, the team behind the stage version of Mary Poppins, Honk! gives a funky new energy to one of the world’s favourite fairy tales, Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling.
Of course Ugly is born as a duckling but it soon becomes apparent that he is no ordinary duck. Mocked in the farmyard and pursued by the ever-hungry cat, Ugly finds himself lost on a nearby marsh in the middle of a duck shoot, and embarks on an odyssey through the countryside, meeting a battery of colourful characters, and finding himself, and love, along the way.
Honk! follows Keynsham Youth Theatre’s higly acclaimed productions of The Wedding Singer and Seussical, which was nominated for the National Operatic and Dramatic Association’s Award for Best Youth Musical last year.
Honk! is being performed at Broadlands School, Keynsham, from Tuesday, April 6th to Saturday, April 10th. Performances are each evening at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Tickets priced at £8 adults /£6 children are available from the Box Office on 01761 414957 or can be reserved at kyts@hotmail.co.uk
