Saltford residents say where are our recycling bags?

PEOPLE living in Saltford have claimed the council’s new blue recycling bags have not been delivered to their homes.
Bath and North East Somerset Council switched cardboard collections from a fortnightly to a weekly rota at the end of November and residents are supposed to use a blue bag for recycling cardboard, instead of putting it out with the garden waste as they used to.
But the bags have not been delivered to all homes across the district and the council's campaign to inform residents about the change has not reached everyone.
Liberal Democrat councillor Caroline Roberts (Newbridge) said Chew Valley and Saltford residents were among those reporting that blue bags have not been delivered to their homes. Some also said they had not been given information about using the new service.
Cardboard used to be collected with garden waste as part of the fortnightly composting service, but the council said it had become more difficult and expensive to compost cardboard successfully, so the blue bags were introduced.
B&NES spokesman James Hinchcliffe said the new weekly cardboard and plastics recycling service had been very well received by residents, with 19 tonnes of card collected across the district in the first week of the new collections.
He said: "The council has already recognised that there have been some issues with the distribution of blue bags and leaflets explaining the weekly cardboard and plastics service in some parts of the area."
If you have not received a blue bag or leaflet by the end of the week, email council_connect@bathnes.gov.uk or call 01225 39 40 41. Or visit: www.bathnes.gov.uk/cardboardandplastics.

This seems to be par for the course so far as Saltford residents are concerned; not only do we not have blue bags but yet again our rubbish has not been collected. Passing along the Bath Road you will again note that the North side is littered with uncollected bags, a welcome food source for rats and crows but little good otherwise.
Once more I have had to use the local refuse tip.
If Banes cannot organize a collection perhaps a deduction on our very high Council Tax rates can be negotiated.
