New video on recycling for Keynsham residents

A new video promoting the top five tips for recycling waste at the kerbside is being launched by Bath & North East Somerset Council to coincide with the new weekly cardboard and plastic recycling collection service that started Monday November 30th 2009.

The video, which can be found at www.bathnes.gov.uk/recyclingtips, gives the Council’s top five tips on how to recycle as much as possible and help kerbside waste collections run smoothly.

Councillor Charles Gerrish (Conservative, Keynsham North), Cabinet Member for Customer Services, said, “Bath & North East Somerset Council is using every available means to increase awareness and understanding on how residents can play their part in tackling the causes and effects of climate change. The five simple tips in our video will help the Council reduce the amount of waste going to landfill. The new weekly cardboard and plastic recycling service is the ideal opportunity to use technology on the Council’s website to promote our approach to reducing waste.”

The Council will collect cardboard every week for recycling using the new blue bag that households should have received – in the video residents are asked to remember to flatten the cardboard to 45cm so that collectors can fit it in the vehicle. The Council will be collecting a wider range of plastic packaging used to contain food and drinks such as plastic pots, tubs, trays and bottles. These items should be clean and flat when put into the green box.
