Keynsham’s leisure centre could be moved from its town centre site to the Wellsway School complex.

Artist's impression of the new sports complex at Wellsway School. Will it be made bigger?
A B&NES Council official has spoken to Keynsham Town Council leaders about the idea.
The move would be seen as controversial by some people who fear it would bring more traffic to an already congested area outside the schools in Chandag Road.
Town Council chairman Roy Staddon has already expressed his “misgivings” about the project.
Last month Wellsway School unveiled plans for its new sports hall project. But already there is a suggestion that a larger complex could be built to replace facilities at The Riverside centre.
For example officials are suggesting the hall could incorporate six badminton courts instead of four although the scheme does not yet include a swimming pool.
Town council chairman Roy Staddon is interested to hear everyones views on this new plan.before the council puts together an official response to the suggestions.
Contact Mr Staddon by writing to him at 54b, Temple Street, Keynsham, Bristol BS31 1EP, or by email roystaddon@btinternet.com or speak to you B&NEs ward councillor.

Great idea. Move it I say. Then replace the eyesore in Temple Street with a row of quaint cottages and a few pubs. Now *that's* progress. Do agree about the cricket pitches though.

ReportMy concern is that existing green field sports pitches could be lost to make way for this bigger sports complex.
I was on the committee of the areas biggest cricket league during the time B&NES Council was out to consultation about its leisure facilities.
No one asked us about the desperate shortage of cricket pitches in B&NES which could be added to with the Somerdale pitches under threat.
Hundreds of juniors play every week for clubs including Keynsham, Midsomer Norton and Whitchurch but as they grow up they discover we don't enough pitches to cope with demand.
How many council-run cricket pitches are there in Keynsham for adults? Answer not one.
The one at Manor Road was abandoned years ago.
