Keynsham Rugby Club will be hosting one of the biggest fireworks displays in the area tonight.

Thousands of spectators are expected to flock to the club’s Crown Field ground on Bristol Road for the annual display.

This long-standing event in the club’s calendar has gained a reputation for being one of the best displays in the region and with Bristol’s big display on The Downs no longer taking place, Keynsham’s event is expected to draw even bigger crowds.

There will also be a small fun fair, bar, hot food and refreshments.

The gates open at 6 p.m. for a 7 p.m. start and ticket prices are:

  • Adult, £6
  • Child, £3
  • Family ticket, £15
If you’re holding your own fireworks party this weekend, make sure you buy only quality British Standard marked fireworks with the registered number BS7114.

Fireworks Code

Here are some further firework safety tips from Avon Fire and Rescue:

Always keep your fireworks in a sealed metal box or biscuit tin. Never put fireworks in your pockets

Ensure you read all instructions

Always keep fireworks at arms length

Never, ever throw a firework

Once you light a firework, don't go back to it

Make sure children are fully supervised and are wearing gloves when playing with sparklers

It’s a good idea to have a bucket of water close-by to extinguish used sparklers

When building your bonfire, ensure that it is sited safely away from any hedges, buildings or fences, and have a garden hose ready in case of any emergencies

Keep all pets indoors

Fireworks and alcohol do not mix – it’s a good idea to nominate an adult who isn’t drinking at the party to be in charge of the fireworks

Anti-Social Behaviour

Avon and Somerset Police have issued a stern warning following the anti-social behaviour and criminal damage experienced in some places over the Halloween weekend.

They have stated that there will be a zero tolerance stance to anti-social behaviour over the bonfire weekend.

Inspector Colin Salmon said: "This weekend we will have officers out patrolling in known anti-social behaviour hotspot areas, so that families can experience a safe and enjoyable Bonfire Night.”

There's also a fireworks display tonight at Bitton Rec at 7pm which sounds good.
