Cricketer runs for his nephew

Keynsham cricketer Ian Payter is running in the Bath half marathon in aid of his brave  little nephew who desperately needs a special £2,800 push chair.

Charlie Roche will be three next Monday (15th). He is autistic, suffers with dyspraxia and is in the early stages of ADHD.

But because his parents Steve and Sarah-Jayne Roche both work they are not eligible for funding to help pay for the special push chair.

They said; “Charlie is our only child and we are so lucky to have him in our lives. We are still awaiting more in depth testing on Charlie’s chromosomes which will take up to 12 months, which, as with everything else all comes down to funding. 

“In the mean time, we want to support our child to the best of our capability and help him to lead as ‘normal’ a life as possible. We are extremely proud of our son and would love to enjoy those activities that most families enjoy regularly – for example, a trip to the zoo etc. Unfortunately this is becoming increasingly difficult due to the fact that Charlie now needs the specialised push chair. This will cost us £2,800 and we are not eligible for funding as we both work and this is a contributing factor to Charlie not being prioritised.”

Their brother-in-law Ian Payter, who plays for Keynsham Cricket Club, has started training for the Bath half marathon on March 7, and he hopes as many people as possible will support him to raise money for the pushchair.
