A young couple are urging Keynsham’s MP to back their campaign for cheaper bus fares.

Laura Friend of Willsbridge and her boyfriend Adam Heard already have more then 120 signatures on their petition for cheaper bus fares in the area.

They feel that if First Bus reduced the prices then more people would get on the buses.

Laura said: “We have been to several places including Keynsham, Longwell Green, Bitton and Saltford with our petition.

“I think the day ticket prices are probably fair. But it is the single return tickets that are much too expensive.”

The couple have also urged North East Somerset MP Jacob Rees-Mogg and Kingswood MP Chris Skidmore to get behind their campaign.

when we reached 1500 names on our campaign , we took it to show Chris Skidmore and Jacob Rees-Mogg. Mr Skidmore said he would be very happy to get behind our campaign. Mr Rees-Mogg said that he wouldnt sign it but was happy to have his picture taken with us and the campaign. He said he wouldnt sign it because he thought there was more important things that the governments money could go on.
