Clevedon United boss Alan Smith believes new signing Josh White can go on to bigger things.

The burly 16-year-old, who was signed from Bridgwater Town, misses the trip to Bradford Town tomorrow as he is on Somerset County Under-18s duty with team-mates Sam Charman and Jamie Adams.

Smith, whose team will be aiming to build on last Saturday's 5-0 thumping of Bridport, said: "Josh is a big, strong centre-half who is undergoing England Youth trials. He is, undoubtedly, a fine prospect."

Midfielder Matt Fisher has been released by United.

Spencer Thomas insists his overworked Oldland Abbotonians squad have the willpower to go the distance in their promotion bid, despite Wednesday's 3-1 defeat at Elmore.

"If we win all our games in hand we'll put ourselves in with a shout, and the players are capable of doing that," said Thomas, whose side host Gillingham without the suspended Naby Diallo and may also lack James Crew through injury.

Portishead Town manager Dave Willis is urging more of the same from his team at Elmore after Monday night's 3-1 win at Hengrove Athletic.

"We were dire in losing (1-0) at home to Devizes two days earlier, yet we looked a completely different side against Hengrove," said Willis.

Portishead could be without striker Andy Lynch for the rest of the campaign but Willis can recall captain Cleve Holder to midfield after a ban.

New Cadbury Heath boss Andy Black says he will give his players every chance to prove themselves after making a winning start at Almondsbury UWE.

"The players have set themselves high standards," said Black, whose first home match in charge will be against Minehead tomorrow.

Striker Ryan Bernard retains his place in the Keynsham Town squad for the visit to Roman Glass St George following his arrival from Oldland, but midfielder Tyrone Fudgell is out. Centre-half Mark Pope wins a first call-up of the campaign as cover for Scott Green and Jake Coggins.

Saints are without a win in nine games, although they will take heart from Saturday's 2-2 draw with high-flying Odd Down.
