A charity dog show is being staged in Keynsham on Sunday in memory of a teenager who died of a brain tumour.

Scott Williams was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour at the age of 15 and although he underwent successful operations and treatment he developed a second tumour and died three years later.

Scott’s family is busy raising money in aid of the Scott Williams Memorial Fund and is staging the Fun Charity Dog Show at Keynsham Rugby Club to help the Teenage Cancer Trust South West.

Scott’s family says the treatment and support he received from Bristol Children’s Hospital and Frenchay Hospital was first class but it highlighted the difficulty of having no specialist unit for teenagers in Bristol.

The Bitton youngster began his treatment in the children’s ward but from the age of 16 was transferred to adult wards.

His family wants to provide a unit which bridges the gap for teenagers and has raised £20,000 in the last 18 months.

The Dog Show at the club in Bristol Road starts at 1pm and more fund raising events are planned throughout the summer.
