Great news! Keynsham is now officially a chav town. Anyone driving in from Bath will take a look at Poundland and Peacocks and see that Keynsham is now a premier shopping destination.
On the plus side though, at least it means cheap shampoo and who can argue with a bag of PomBears for a pound?

It is great news that poundland is moving to Keynsham, the trouble is that very few little one man band retailers are surviving now. at least with big name brands come high numbers of staff employment, building works and money to the area. not to mention popular choice of stock.
Hi Shywitch,
I'll see what I can find out about that sign.

I've just heard from a Poundland representative, who said they had Keynsham down on their list as a location for a store, but it's now gone from the list.
There could be any number of reasons for that such as contracts or building work etc, but she said she would l let me know as soon as she knew anything.
Apparently, they normally make an announcement a month before any store is due to open.
Last year they said it was their aim to have a Poundland store on every high street.

It might just be a temporary disappearance from the list though, the Poundland spokeswoman wasn't able to say for sure.
We'll have to wait and see what happens, but I agree, an empty shop is never a good thing - especially when it's in such a prominent place in the high street.
I'll keep an eye on this and post on here as soon as I know anything.

One thing that I have found in the past is that big name retailers do not normally announce setting up new stores until building works are done and stock is starting to be moved in. maybe this is in case local people kick off to try and block moves ect. I think this is the case here rather than it simply being removed from the list!! WH Smith have also previously done this.
