MAKE A DIFFERENCE - BE A MENTOR!

The Keynsham-based community project, Community@67, is looking for mentors for a new mentoring scheme to help change the lives of young people in the local area. Mentors will help young people to access employment, education or training and to make positive changes to their lives by meeting regularly with the young people selected and covering a variety of subjects to help them access employment as well as to raise their self-esteem.

Mentoring@67 is an activity-based, one-to-one mentoring programme which is committed to making a difference to young people aged 18-25. Mentoring@67 placements are unique and varied, and aim to match mentors to their mentees based on interests and similarities. You do not require set qualifications (but you do need to be at least 18 years old), you simply need to be able to support the mentee to learn, grow and develop. Mentoring has been recognised as being key to engaging with young people and helping them build their confidence, skills and development on an individual basis.

Mentors also gain a great deal from taking part in the scheme and they are able to make a major contribution to the development of a young person.

Mentoring@67 will work with Keynsham Youth Service and the community to provide valuable support to local young people. The scheme is funded by South West Foundation.

Mentors generally deliver a minimum of one session per week over the course of a year, each session is a minimum of one hour. Free training is provided for mentors and successful applicants will also be CRB checked.

To apply to be a mentor and for more information about new Mentoring@67 programme, contact Alison Finn on Mobile: 07874 232029. Email: mentoring67@live.com ideally by 30th June.
