What to you think of public transport links from Keynsham to Bristol and Bath?
Also the road links. Isn't it about time something was done to ease the traffic congestion in Keynsham's High Street?
Are the bus links adequate?
What about the rail service from Keynsham Station particularly art rush hour peak times.
We're lucky in Keynsham that we have A-bus operating such a friendly, reliable and cheap service into Bristol. Without them, I would have to pay Firstbus around £4 a day (rather than £2) and First hike their fares every single year.
The Brislington Park & Ride (operated by First) is, in my experience poor value and a miserable experience. Also, BCC recently put up fares saying that most people using the service were coming from outside Bristol and therefore it shouldn't be subsidised by Bristol taxpayers.....nice eh?
Only one bus connects our side of Keynsham to the rest of the world, Welland, as you know, and thats the 178 (Pony Express). Bristol to Bath via Keynsham and all other small villages between. Expensive but always on time however you do pass through various time zones and you may age more if you stay on for the entire journey. The old saying, if you pay the most rates you get the crap services. You all know my views on the congestion in the High Street so I won't give you all another rant on that topic. I just hope the lunatics at BANES Highways don't adopt the new bus stop arrangements in the High Street as they have put on the Upper Bristol Road, Bath, just past the Park and Ride. At massive public expenditure they have built 'Harrier Jumpjet Slopes' that jut out into the carriageway by five foot and thereby narrow the carriageway so when a bus stops nobody can pass the said vehicle. Oh and these obstructions are built opposite central resevation islands to make it more of a hazzard. With the bus stops being 300 yards apart along the road look at the traffic congestion now!! Still its obviously the BANES master plan of forcing the rapid transit route though the poor bugggers gardens in the Newbridge area. Mrs Meldrew uses the rail network from Keynsham to Bristol during the peak commuter times and has informed me that the trains are frequent and run on time. The fare for the train is the same as the bus. However standing room only by the time the train gets to Somerdale Junction, but hey, its a journey of 8 minutes compared with the 45 minute flog along the A4, especially if you are sat next to some pond life shouting to their mate on the mobile or having the annoying muted ipod noise in your ear as you play "guess the song"!!!
