Done your 2011 census form yet? Today's the official day for us to complete it.
Every household in the country must fill out the form - either on paper or online - giving details of our jobs, education and ethnic background.
More than one million forms have already been submitted online . Filling the forms in is compulsory - if you don't you risk a fine of up to £1,000.

I certainly did fill out my census form, but in an age where hundreds of different agencies - government and otherwise - hold so much information about us, I wonder whether information gathering through a census is still necessary. Surely there are better things the government could be spending our hard earned cash on.

There is talk KeynshamKim of this being the last ever census because it is so expensive to organise. The Office for National Statistics is apparently looking for other ways to collect data on us all...
