If you're one of those people who complain about Keynsham but never take action, or if you feel you should be more active in the community – here's how.

Keynsham Town Council is looking for two councillors for the Keynsham East ward. The only qualifications you need is to live in Keynsham, be over 18, attend the monthly council meetings and be community minded.

Town clerk Jo Swift said: "There are some people who moan about things, but wouldn't dream of becoming a councillor. If you want to be involved with and support your local community and influence the decisions made about it, then you should apply."

There are currently three councillors for the ward – two Conservatives and a member of the BNP. New members don't have to be from a particular party.

The posts aren't salaried, but the amount of work that's expected from a councillor depends on how much time they have to give.

"Some of our councillors are retired so are able to put in lot of hours," Ms Swift added, "while some work full time, so can't do as much."

Interested? If so, write to Ms Swift at Keynsham Town Council and tell her why you think you should be considered. The address is: 15-17 Temple Street, Keynsham, BS31 1HF. Email:

townclerk@keynsham-tc.gov.uk.

The deadline for applications is Friday, June 3.
