A brand new way of Bath & North East Somerset Council raising awareness about how local residents can access local services, attend local events, and get involved in their local community was launched today.
The Connect Podcast – available at http://bathnescouncil.podbean.com/ - is presented and produced by Somer Valley 97.5 FM in what appears to be a nationwide first where a Council has used a community radio station to compile their podcast.
Dom Chambers, Station Manager at Somer Valley 97.5 FM, who presents the podcast, said, ”After talking to fellow station managers involved in community radio, it appears this arrangement might be a nationwide first.”
Anyone can download the inaugural 24 minute podcast which contains interesting stories involving:
· Olympic Gold Medallist Victoria Pendleton talking about the forthcoming July 25th Bath SkyRide and information about how to sign-up;
· Manic Skaterz organiser Lewis Jelley talking about how his group were involved in developing plans for the new skateboard park in Midsomer Norton;
· Local news including a Queen’s honour for a local teacher, a new approach to tackling litter and details about an exhibition of Princess Diana’s dresses.
