TEAM OF THE MONTH A signed Bath Rugby shirt will join the traditional crate of beer as the prize for January's Bath Chronicle/Greensward Sports Consultancy Team of the Month.

In the running are three teams who, between them, have lost just once since 2012 kicked off. The contenders on the shortlist are:

KEYNSHAM EXILES Wins over Walcot, Clevedon and Yatton extended the Keynsham 2nd XV's unbeaten run to ten games and moved them up to second in Somerset 1, where they compete with many local 1st XVs.

OLDFIELD OLD BOYS Home wins against Avomouth and Brixham, plus victories on the road at Thornbury and Berry Hill, gave the Shaft Road club the perfect start to 2012. The run could have come too late for a promotion push but shows they are adapting well to life in South West 1 West.

STOTHERT & PITT The Cranes won three out of four tight games this month, putting them a clear fourth in Somerset Premier. Their only loss was a 21-19 turnaround at the hands of a strong Weston-super-Mare 2nd XV.

The Chronicle's local rugby coverage is sponsored by Greensward Sports Consultancy, a Bath-based company specialising in a high standard of construction and maintenance of schools and sportsground facilities.
