Putting Saltford on the tourism map

This week it emerged that Saltford had been missed off a 500,000-print run leaflet available at tourist information centres in the Bath and Somerset area.

Saltford councillors Duncan Hounsell and Chris Warren have now persuaded Take One Media, which produces the leaflet Somerset – Things to See & Do, to put Saltford on the map for its 2013 edition.
Mr Hounsell said: "Putting Saltford on this map is important for all the visitor-related businesses in Saltford."
But a look at the official tourism website for Bath reveals that Saltford does not get a mention either - apart from the fact that Bath-based Avon Valley Wheels run cycling tours along the railway path.
In fact Saltford has a host of places of interest to visitors, including its 18th century brassmill, Norman church, marina, a great golf course, and the oldest continuously occupied house in England - the 12th century Saltford Manor House.
It's also a haven for bird watchers. A new wildlife page has recently been set up by Saltford Environment Group listing around 90 regularly occurring bird species readily observed in Saltford.
And the village boasts some great pubs, including the riverside Jolly Sailor.
