Poppy Appeal launched in Keynsham

A giant poppy has been attached to the front of the British Legion building in Keynsham to mark the official start of this year's Poppy Appeal.
If you see a poppy seller around town, do try to buy a poppy if you can. It's a very worthy cause. There can be few of us who don't have a grandfather, uncle, father, brother or son who has served in the Armed Forces - from the First World War to the current campaign in Afganistan.
The British Legion does great work and has been helping the Armed Forces for the past 90 years It is committed to the welfare, interests, and memory of those who have served their country and helps those in need of long-term care.
So wear your poppy with pride.

ReportGlorifiying war? That couldn't be further from the truth. The Legion isn't there to glorify the war, it's there to pick up the pieces when a service man is injured, disabled, in financial distress or in need of friendship or kindness. The smallest bit of research would have told them that.
For as long as the human race exists, there will always be wars, which means that organisations such as the Legion will be necessary and deserving of our help.

ReportWell said, Poundland take note! I hope we're not going to hear a load of rubbish again this year from ignorant people about how wearing poppies is in some way 'glorifying' or approving war.
