Chandag Junior School in Keynsham is looking for a new lollipop man or woman to help pupils get across the road safely.
The vacancy is one of six in the B&NES area caused by exceptional sickness and maternity leave.
At Midsomer Norton Primary relief School Crossing Patrol Sharon Mead said, "I help about a hundred people cross the road every morning and afternoon.
"It is rewarding doing a job at the heart of the community and I feel valued by the school, parents, and Council. Excellent training is provided so that you can do the job confidently at a fair rate of pay. I really hope that people are encouraged to help their community and apply."
Anyone interested in becoming a School Crossing Patrol at the school and wishes to be employed on a casual basis, should call B&NES Council on 01225 394922.
Councillor Roger Symonds (Lib-Dem, Combe Down), Cabinet Member for Transport, added, "I hope that as many people as possible can think about becoming a lollipop person and contact us to find out more."
Bikeability cycling training, and school crossing patrols are all part of the Council's effort to make walking and cycling to school a more safer and convenient option for parents and pupils.
