Keynsham Junior Football Club has scooped an award for its work in the community.
The achievements and dedication of sports people, volunteers and coaches throughout Bath and North East Somerset were celebrated by the council's chairman, Cllr Rob Appleyard and special guest, Paralympic swimmer Stephanie Millward, at an awards ceremony at the Guildhall in Bath held last night.
And the Chairman's Special Award was presented to Keynsham Junior Football Club for its work in the community, including free coaching sessions for local autistic organisation Butterflies and free after-school sessions.
The club, which also engages with parents and volunteers, encouraging children to develop as players, then coaches and referees, giving back what they have learned as youth leaders, also took an award for Sports Club of the Year.
A spokesman for the club said: "It's great to know that the contribution we are all making to the lives of our young players and their families is recognised."
It was a really good night for Keynsham, with the Young Volunteer in Sport award won by Mike Oram, from Keynsham Swimming Club.
Cllr Appleyard said: "I'm delighted to celebrate the marvellous achievements and dedication of our local sports people, volunteers and coaches.
"I hope that their devotion to sporting activities in our communities continues to inspire others to enjoy a healthy lifestyle and get active with the support of Bath & North East Somerset Council."
