I was saddened albeit not surprised to read that the Banes Council has agreed to putting the second part of the site-nerarst Charlton Rd onto the market for potential houdsing developers to submit their bids. The site does not require palnning permissioon for this to happen, as it sits as agren field site within the already agreed Local Plan.Development at the rate of 50 houses per year is due to begin early 2013. and take 5 years.

Now I,and neighbours must look for alternative dog walking grounds, but hope that our dear play ground near our home remains in tact -it certainly was in original paln.I just dread the traffic consequences too, both during and after construction times.

Local people aren't allowed views, they're just dismissed as Nimbys. If we're lucky we might get a public consultation about K2 and Somerdale, but our views will be ignored and the developers will do what they want to do. It always seems to work that way. Give it 10 years and Keynsham, Brislington, Satlford and Bath will have merged into one continuous stream of housing estates. It will be called Breynlington or something just as daft.

surely we dont need so many new houses being built, especially with 500 homes going in at frys, cant the council, leave k1/k2 alone like most of keynsham want it to be,it would nice if councilors listened to local people for a change, and not to outsiders,

    Hi Gizmo,

I checked this out with B&NES and it seems it isn't for sale just yet. This is what they had to say:

"That site owned by the Council is not currently on the market. In the event that the land is marketed, and a formal decision has yet to be made, the development will need to go through the full planning process, which will include consideration of the nature of the development along with transportation and highways matters."

Although there will be a public enquiry about all green belt land in Keynsham:

Greengaia, I fully support your concerns, but wee are on a loser trying to fight this one I fear.We fought it at meetings, petitions etc over the local plan proposals, etc, over many years. This site -currently under water in many parts is a site we are going to loose eventually.I hope theAbbotswood in between both K2 sites is not involved in future works--especially covering the possibilty of a road between the two developments, leading to Charlton Rd.
I would gladly lead a campaign of opposition, remaining consistent,in my views, however, our o[pportunity to appeal appears removed sadly .
