Soap fans were out in force on Saturday when Emmerdale's  Andy Sugden aka actor Kelvin Fletcher officially opened Keysham's new Poundland store.

Fans ranging from young children to pensioners waited in the High Street for the actor who arrived by the back entrance and then made his way to the front to cut a yellow ribbon to officially welcome shoppers to Poundland.

The actor then took his place behind the till where he met fans, signed autographs and had his picture taken.

Mr Fletcher's fans were not disappointed. "He looks just like he does on TV," and  "Ooh, he's fit, isn't he?" were just some of the comments heard coming from the crowd.

The 27-year-old actor has been in Emmerdale since 1996.
